A touch of light

I am fascinated by the drama of weather and light, and the effect it has on everything it touches. Photography for me is to capture the effects of light; in other words: ‘to paint with light’.

My passion for light is what inspired me to write a book that starts with the effects and use of light in photography, before moving to composition, editing tools and equipment choices.

To buy and download the book, please go to ‘shop’.

Following are a few sample photos that each show a different aspect of light:

Te Kouma Harbour; a quintessential sunset scene

Dimly lit workshop with shapes defined by surface reflections

Burgos’ cathedral lit up at night

Classic portraiture with light falling through a window

Silversmith; light from above accentuating effort

Hanoi; braving the rain at daybreak (rainy days aren’t wasted days)
